A Dose of Success: The Impact of MedMinder in a Community Hospital

Feb 3, 2025 | Stories

For ten years and counting, Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, Ohio, has been benefiting from using MedMinder devices for their patients, and seeing significant improvement in patient outcomes.

One thing the community hospital emphasizes about MedMinder is how their patients adhere better to their medication schedule.

“Our patients really do well with our MedMinder devices,” says WCH representative. “They appreciate the reminders, and our monthly compliance is at 100% or close to it.”

“Their customer service team is always available for our staff in the field,” said the WCH representative when asked about the overall effectiveness of MedMinder services in improving patient care.

One of their primary focuses in Community Care is to decrease hospital readmissions, which MedMinder devices and services have really helped a lot with.

“We place a MedMinder device in our patients with acute CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) to help reduce CHF exacerbations, and in our patients diagnosed with dementia who don’t have caregivers to help them,” says WCH representative.

“We have seen a significant reduction in readmissions on these patients,” WCH representative emphasized.

Since introducing MedMinder devices to their patients, WCH has observed remarkable progress in reducing patient stress related to medication management, such as concerns about missing a dose as they also follow a systematic approach. This system provides them confidence in their adherence and the opportunity to remain independent at home.

“We deliver the device to their home and we show them how it works. We have a nurse that goes to the home each week or bi weekly to fill the med box,” says WCH representative.

“Our patients just have to focus on taking their medications when the device alerts them to. This has helped decrease stress on our patients worrying about missing medications,” WCH representative added.

WCH has also seen tangible growth in patients coming for their various programs.

“We have had multiple patients come through our program,” notes WCH representative when asked if there have been positive outcomes resulting from the use of MedMinder devices.

In terms of business operation, Wooster Community Hospital shared that using MedMinder devices and services has positively impacted their major goal which is to lower their readmission rates, keeping patients stable and well within the community.

This WCH success story is a testament that medication management yields better outcomes when healthcare providers and patients cooperate with each other, and even more impactful for both, with the addition of MedMinder devices and services.
